The 51 players Thomas Tuchel has called up for England as he submits World Cup squad
England boss Thomas Tuchel has submitted his provisional squad list ahead of World Cup 2026 in North America.

Thomas Tuchel has submitted a mandatory 55-man England squad to FIFA ahead of World Cup 2026. The long list is not expected to be made public until he announces his final 26-man squad next Friday. Express Sport has taken a look at all 51 players who have been called up by the German coach during previous international breaks to see who may have made the cut for the preliminary list.
With the summer tournament in Mexico, the United States and Canada fast approaching, all 48 competing nations have tendered a long list to FIFA, from which their final 26-player squads will be selected. Stars on this list can be called in to replace those who make the final cut, should they later get injured or be unable to participate in the World Cup. The English FA's list is kept out of the public eye like most others, but reports claim that Danny Welbeck, Luke Shaw and Jarrad Branthwaite are included. Tuchel has never picked any of this rumoured trio before.
Since he took charge in January 2025, a total of 51 players have made his senior cohorts and these previous selections could provide clues as to who has made the 55.
England are set to confirm the final 26 who will jet off to the World Cup on May 22, with the squad being sent to FIFA by June 1 and published on June 2. Players must be selected from the long list filed this week.
Of the 51 players Tuchel has previously called up, some names are almost certainly on the 55-player list. Those include the likes of captain Harry Kane and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who have featured in nine of the German's 12 games in charge alongside Ezri Konsa.

Only three players have made more appearances, with Morgan Rogers on 11 and Declan Rice and Marcus Rashford featuring in 10 England games under Tuchel. One would assume these three have made the cut, too.
Jordan Henderson, Anthony Gordon and Jarrod Bowen have played eight times since Tuchel's arrival, with both Elliot Anderson and Eberechi Eze making seven appearances.
Anderson is one of nine players whom Tuchel has handed international debuts to, playing him against Andorra in September 2025. Others include Dan Burn, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Trevoh Chalobah, Djed Spence, Nico O'Reilly, Jarell Quansah, James Trafford and James Garner.
Four players have been called up to senior squads by Tuchel but are yet to be given any minutes by him: Goalkeepers Jason Steele, Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale as well as midfielder Alex Scott.
