The 33-year-old midfielder was due to depart when his deal expired at the end of June.

The Brazilian club will face Jorginho's former side, Chelsea, Tunisian champions ES Tunis and Mexico's Club Leon in the group stage.

Victor Osimhen reaches transfer agreement
Victor Osimhen has agreed personal terms with Al-Hilal ahead of a blockbuster transfer to Saudi Arabia, according to reports.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Al-Hilal have finally met the 26-year-old striker's wage demands and a closing in on a deal.
There is said to be just over £4m separating the Saudi club's current proposal and Napoli's asking price.
Newcastle make contact for Anthony Elanga
Newcastle United have sent an enquiry to Nottingham Forest over Anthony Elanga, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claim that Newcastle are pursuing a move for the 23-year-old winger after missing out on Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United.
The report adds that Forest would demand a sizeable fee for Elanga if he indicated his desire to leave for St. James' Park.
Newcastle are said to have attempted to sign Elanga on deadline day last summer with an initial offer of £35m, but a deal was never close.
Benjamin Sesko keen on Arsenal
Benjamin Sesko to Arsenal is ON, according to Sky Germany.
It's claimed that the negotiations over personal terms are progressing positively, and there has been clear progress.
That said, no formal agreement has been reached, and Arsenal are yet to submit a bid to RB Leipzig.

Man Utd set Rasmus Hojlund price tag
Manchester United could let go of Rasmus Hojlund for as little as £38million this summer, according to The Telegraph.
The Red Devils agreed an eye-watering £72m package to sign him from Atalanta only two years ago.
But the Dane has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.
Inter Milan have shown an interest in Hojlund and United may be tempted to cash in on him to fund their big-spending summer.
Arsenal make Kepa top target
Arsenal have moved Kepa Arrizabalaga to the top of their goalkeeper wish list after missing out on Joan Garcia, according to The Athletic.
Arrizabalaga impressed on loan at Bournemouth last season and he has a £5million release clause in his Chelsea contract.
Although they may have to pay big wages for what will ultimately be a back-up goalkeeper, Arsenal view Kepa as a profitable market opportunity, given his £71.6m move to Chelsea seven years ago and the form he showed with the Cherries.
David Raya is expected to remain the Gunners' No. 1.
Crystal Palace eye audacious Diomande swoop
Crystal Palace have explored an ambitious move for Sporting centre-back Ousmane Diomande, according to The Telegraph.
Manchester United and Chelsea are among the clubs who have been tracking Diomande over the past three years.
The 21-year-old is one of the highest-rated young central defenders in Europe.
And Palace have earmarked him as a possible replacement for Marc Guehi, in case the skipper is snapped up.

Napoli keen on Trevoh Chalobah
Napoli are showing interest in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, according to The Telegraph.
Stamford Bridge bosses have reportedly been delighted by Chalobah's attitude and performances since he was recalled from a loan spell at Crystal Palace midway through last season.
But they cannot guarantee him regular game time next term, with Wesley Fofana returning from injury and Levi Colwill his preferred centre-back partner.
Napoli are managed by ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who was at Stamford Bridge when Chalobah was making his way through the youth ranks.
Kerkez to Liverpool slows down
Liverpool's plan to rapidly tie up a deal for Milos Kerkez is reportedly in jeopardy as Bournemouth stand firm on their valuation of the left-back.
The Reds have been working on a move for the Hungarian international since January, and he is still expected to make the switch to Anfield and compete with Andrew Robertson for the starting berth next season.
But the Cherries are not giving Liverpool an easy ride.
The i Paper claim that Bournemouth are unwilling to come down on their £45million price tag. Liverpool's hopes of arriving at an imminent agreement have had to be shelved, with sporting director Richard Hughes scrambling to fix a number of 'unresolved issues', the report adds.
The saga is expected to drag into next week at the earliest, and potentially beyond.
Arsenal favour Sesko over Gyokeres
Arsenal are leaning towards bidding for Benjamin Sesko over Viktor Gyokeres, according to The Independent.
Both strikers have been heavily linked with the Emirates Stadium this summer as Mikel Arteta goes in search of a new centre-forward.
Gyokeres scored more league goals than any other player in Europe last term.
But Gunners chiefs feel that Sesko has the higher ceiling, and work is still underway regarding a £75million transfer from RB Leipzig.
Ollie Watkins and Goncalo Ramos have reportedly been earmarked as fall-back options.

Rasmus Hojlund 'gives approval' for Inter move
Rasmus Hojlund has approved a prospective move to Inter Milan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Dane is believed to be on the chopping block at Manchester United this summer, and a return to Serie A seems his most likely exit route.
Club chiefs have reportedly been in contact with Hojlund's camp for weeks, and he has now given his green light.
The parties still need to agree on a suitable contract, and the two clubs need to agree on a fee, but things appear to be edging closer.
Gabriel signs new Arsenal contract
Gabriel Magalhaes has signed a new Arsenal contract which will tie him to the club until 2029, the club has confirmed.
The Brazilian has played 210 games and scored 20 goals for the Gunners since signing from Lille in 2020.
And his centre-back partnership with William Saliba is one of the most formidable in the Premier League.
On signing a deal that will take him into his thirties, Gabriel said: "I'm so proud of myself, it's an amazing journey, and I'm so happy to continue it.
"I hope I win some trophies with this club, because I love this club and my family loves the club, too."
Rayan Cherki all but confirms Man City move
Rayan Cherki effectively confirmed his move to Manchester City after a sparkling cameo for France on Thursday night.
The youngster rose from the bench to notch a goal and an assist in the Nations League semi-finals, but Les Bleus were still defeated 5-4 by Spain.
On his upcoming move, with personal terms reportedly agreed and his £25million release clause set to be triggered, Cherki said: "Yes, it’s getting done.
"You already know my answer, everybody knows. But there's still a game to play. Now we have to enjoy and give everything, but after it will be done."

Liverpool star reveals talks
Luis Diaz could be on his way out of Liverpool this summer, with Barcelona interested in a move for the winger.
Speaking while on international duty with Colombia, Diaz revealed he has held talks with other clubs.
He said: “The market is open and we’re trying to sort out what’s best for us. We’re talking with other clubs. It’s the transfer window, it’s normal.
“I’m very happy at Liverpool. From day one, they’ve made me feel really welcome. Right now we’re in contact with them because we’re speaking with other clubs.
“I am just waiting to see what happens. If Liverpool don’t make a good offer, I still have two years left with them, I would be happy to stay there.
“It’s up to them. I am just waiting to see what happens. Everything depends on them. Obviously, it’s up to me to decide what’s best for the future.”
Man City closing in on Prem star
Man City have been busy so far in the transfer market and they are now closing in on an early signing from their Premier League rivals.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Wolves' Rayan Ait-Nouri will sign a contract at the Etihad Stadium until June 2030.
It has also been reported that his medical will take place tomorrow.
Newcastle eye Chelsea winger
Following their unsuccessful pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo, Newcastle have turned their attention to Chelsea’s Noni Madueke.
CaughtOffside report that the Magpies have enquired about the possibility of signing the winger this summer and have been in contact to speak about his situation.
Chelsea are keen to retain the services of Madueke as it stands, but an offer in the region of £50million would test their resolve.
Bundesliga sides set to battle it out for Man City star
Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart have joined the race to sign Manchester City’s James McAtee, reports Sky Sports Germany.
The German outfit are monitoring his situation closely and already gathered all of the relevant information they require. Rivals Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen are also keen on McAtee, and the young Englishman is ‘very interested’ in the opportunity to play in Germany.
Premier League and Serie A sides remain keen as well.
Arsenal plot move for Kepa Arrizabalaga
Arsenal are reportedly considering a surprise move for Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga.
After missing out on Joan Garcia to Barcelona, the Gunners are assessing alternative options to be their second-choice goalkeeper behind David Raya.
According to Sky Sports, Kepa has emerged as an option, with the Spaniard’s £5million release clause active this summer.

Victor Osimhen’s deal set to collapse
Premier League clubs are set to be put on red alert again.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Victor Osimhen’s potential move to Al Hilal is already set to ‘collapse’.
The Saudi Pro League side have failed to reach an agreement with the player.
Galatasaray are now pushing to strike a deal with Napoli, having secured the services of the Nigeria international on loan in January.
Jack Grealish latest
Jack Grealish is ‘increasingly likely’ to leave Manchester City on loan this summer, reports GIVEMESPORT.
The England international’s wage demands are proving to be a major stumbling block with his suitors this summer, prompting the City to be more open to sanctioning his loan exit.
Pep Guardiola’s side also expect to have to negotiate covering some of his wages whilst away from the club. Grealish would favour a move to another Premier League club, although AC Milan are interested.
Mike Maignan demands Chelsea move
Mike Maignan has informed AC Milan of his desire to join Chelsea, reports talkSPORT.
The Frenchman emerged as a target at Stamford Bridge earlier this week, but talks appeared to already be at risk of stalling due to a gap in valuations.
Chelsea were hoping to strike a cut-price deal as Maignan has just a year left on his contract at the San Siro, but Milan have a higher fee in mind, and the goalkeeper will be hoping that his stance on a move could close the gap between the outfits.
Arsenal eye Rodrygo
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid star Rodrygo as Mikel Arteta looks to add some fire power to his attack.
Sky Sports report that the Brazilian is high on their left-wing shortlist, along with Nico Williams, Leroy Sane and Morgan Rogers.
The Gunners are hoping to add proven quality to their ranks, with Newcastle's Alexander Isak, Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko also being eyed as striker targets.
West Ham reject Chelsea's Kudus approach
West Ham have rejected the chance to sign multiple Chelsea players as part of a deal for Mohammed Kudus, reports the Mirror.
The forward has a £85million release clause for Premier League outfits, but the Blues were hopeful of bringing the fee down by using some of their fringe stars as makeweights in talks.
However, the Hammers have rejected that approach in recent days and are only willing to entertain cash-only proposals.

Man City book Rayan Cherki medical
Manchester City reportedly expect Rayan Cherki to complete his medical with his club ‘over the next few days’.
The Mirror report that Pep Guardiola’s side are preparing for three medicals to take place this week, with Tijjani Reijnders set to arrive on Sunday to complete his £46.3million move.
Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri are also both set to arrive imminently despite being on international duty with France and Algeria respectively.
Victor Osimhen opening bid placed
Saudi side Al Hilal have submitted an opening bid for Victor Osimhen, reports Fabrizio Romano.
The Nigeria international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal linked.
However, Al Hilal have stolen a march on the competition by submitting an official proposal worth £58.9million (including add-ons) to Napoli.
Gyokores makes Man Utd stance clear
Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres is open to a move to Manchester United, reports talkSPORT.
The Sweden international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, and the striker is still willing to complete a move despite the Red Devils not being able to offer him Champions League football.
Gyokeres shone under Ruben Amorim previously, and United will be hopeful that the ex-Coventry star can replicate his sensational form at the Theatre of Dreams if they can strike a deal with Sporting.
The Portuguese outfit are demanding £60million for the forward.
Arsenal target Morgan Rogers
Arsenal have added Morgan Rogers to their transfer wish list, according to The Times.
The Gunners have drafted up a selection of targets capable of bolstering their options on the left wing.
Leroy Sane and Nico Williams are among the names to have been linked so far this month.
Now, Rogers is also in the mix off the back of his superb season at Aston Villa.
But the West Midlands side would demand a huge fee to let him go.
Arsenal have also been keeping tabs on Feyenoord star Igor Paixao, who contributed to 26 Eredivisie goals last season, the report adds.
Liverpool tell Barca Diaz is not for sale
Liverpool have knocked back Barcelona's approach for Luis Diaz, according to The Athletic.
Barca sporting director Deco admitted last month that he is an admirer of Diaz. And he took things a step further by making a formal approach to Liverpool this week.
However, the Reds made it clear they will not be receptive to any offers for the Colombian after the influential role he played in last season's Premier League title win.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr also like Diaz and they could reportedly test Liverpool's resolve with a bid of up to £72million.

Rayan Ait-Nouri to Man City 'will happen'
Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves, according to The Telegraph.
Agreeing personal terms with the left-back is not expected to be an issue for City, who are working on a transfer fee with Wolves.
The final figure is expected to fall around the £35million mark, with add-ons included to potentially bump up the long-term sum.
City are also closing in on the signings of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan and Rayan Cherki from Lyon.
Although there are still small details to iron out, the report adds that Ait-Nouri's move to the Etihad Stadium 'will happen'.
Nico Williams message sent by club chief
Arsenal and Chelsea target Nico Williams is 'part of the project' at Athletic Club, according to the Bilbao side's president Jon Uriarte.
The winger has been heavily linked with a Premier League move this summer but Athletic Club chiefs would naturally love him to stay put.
Uriarte said: "I believe we have a winning and interesting project for everyone, and Nico is part of that project, just like many other players.
"The project becomes easier if we keep our players - and I believe Nico and the rest of the squad have a very exciting year ahead."
Arsenal exit confirmed
Lazio have confirmed the signing of Nuno Tavares from Arsenal.
The Portuguese spent last season on loan in Italy and the move has been made permanent for £7.6million.
Arsenal have also included a 25% sell-on clause as part of the agreement.
Tavares notched eight assists in 23 Serie A appearances last season.

Ten Hag considers Antony and Garnacho reunion
Bayer Leverkusen are interested in Manchester United outcasts Alejandro Garnacho and Antony, according to Kicker.
The German side, who are managed by ex-United boss Erik ten Hag, need a new right-winger after selling Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool.
And the Red Devils duo both feature on their hit list.
United would be willing to cash in on both stars this summer, with Ruben Amorim overhauling his attacking options.
Man Utd open to Casemiro exit
Despite his strong performances towards the back end of last campaign, The Telegraph claim that Casemiro is one of the players on the chopping block at Manchester United.
The signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo would use up the entirety of United's summer transfer budget. As a result, every other signing will have to be funded through the sales of existing squad members.
United chiefs have reportedly decided that they will 'listen to offers' for the Brazilian, who is one of the top earners at Old Trafford.
Casemiro only has a year left to run on his contract, and he has been linked with clubs in the Saudi Pro League. This summer may be United's last chance to bank a fee for the 33-year-old, who cost them £70million in 2022.
Victor Osimhen transfer offer
Victor Osimhen has received a formal contract offer from Al-Hilal, according to Ben Jacobs.
The proposal works out at just shy of £500,000 a week, and bonuses could bump the figure up even higher.
A host of Premier League clubs have also been linked with Osimhen, who is certain to leave Napoli this summer.
Al-Hilal hope to have the deal done in time for the Club World Cup.

Chelsea get green light from Mike Maignan
AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan intends to sign for Chelsea this summer, according to L'Equipe.
The French international only has one year left on his Rossoneri contract, which has left him with a modest £21million price tag.
Chelsea already have a host of goalkeepers on their books, but it is understood that club bosses have identified Maignan as a good-value market opportunity.
It remains to be seen whether Milan are willing to cash in.
Chelsea eye £100m star Morgan Gibbs-White
Chelsea have been credited with interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.
The Stamford Bridge hierarchy 'appreciate him internally', according to Ben Jacobs.
Gibbs-White has been linked with Manchester City this summer, but Pep Guardiola's side are closing in on the signings of Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki, which could see them move onto other targets.
The 25-year-old scored seven Premier League goals and laid on eight assists last season.
According to talkSPORT, he was slapped with a £100million price tag by Forest leading up to the window.
Liverpool medical booked
Liverpool have booked Milos Kerkez in for a medical ahead of his £45million move from Bournemouth, according to TBR Football.
There is a growing confidence that a deal will get done between the two clubs, with Kerkez keen on a move to Anfield.
Liverpool have already signed Jeremie Frimpong to bolster their right-back options, and Kerkez would add extra depth on the left, where Andrew Robertson is seen by many to be past his peak.

Man Utd hit Bryan Mbeumo snag
The add-ons included in a deal between Brentford and Manchester United will be vital to the signing of Bryan Mbeumo, according to Ben Jacobs.
United have put forward an opening bid of £45million, plus another £10m in add-ons.
But the Bees want at least the same £62.5m fee as United paid for Matheus Cunha.
In terms of add-ons, United have reportedly been seeking clauses that would activate if they qualify for the Champions League.
However, Brentford would rather accept simpler criteria relating to Mbeumo's individual performances.
