Bayern release strong statement after Wirtz decision

Bayern Munich have issued a strong statement emphasising their credentials after Florian Wirtz decided to snub them in favour of Liverpool.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, Bayern's CEO, referenced Bayern's involvement in this summer's Club World Cup to highlight their stature in the game after missing out on Wirtz.

"Much more has been written than spoken," Dreesen said to TZ, as quoted by the ECHO. "FC Bayern is one of the absolute top clubs in Europe and the world. Our appeal among fans, but also among players, is enormous.

"The fact that not every player will end up with us is simply part of the package; it's the same for other top clubs. But everyone knows: with FC Bayern, you can win everything every year, you're involved in every competition – the upcoming Club World Cup is a good example of that.

"Just look at which clubs are represented there – and, most of all, which (clubs) aren't. The best European clubs are competing there – including FC Bayern. Our appeal, sporting ambitions, and economic power are well known to all top players around the world."

Salah speaks out over future and Saudi links

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has discussed his future while addressing transfer links to Saudi Arabia.

He outlined when he could potentially retire, saying: "I will stop playing when I have that feeling but if you ask me for my opinion, I think I can play until the age of 39 or 40. But if I felt before that I wanted to stop, I would quit. I have achieved a lot of things."

The winger then went onto discuss past Saudi links, having been the subject of a £150million bid from Al-Ittihad.

On the most recent links, he replied: "I thought it was a good opportunity. My contract was up at Liverpool and I would have gone to Saudi but we finalised the deal with Liverpool. And I still have a good relationship with them and I always stay in contact with them. Yes, we were talking to each other."

Things have moved on quickly

After it being reported that Man Utd's pursuit of Matheus Cunha had hit a stumbling block, BBC Sport have since said that the club have met Wolves' terms.

Wolves had initially rejected the proposal from United to pay his release clause over five years, but now they will pay the full fee for the forward in three instalments over a two-year period - which is what the Molineux outfit were looking for.

Utd set for Cunha blow

Man Utd's hopes of landing Matheus Cunha quickly have reportedly taken a hit.

United are prepared to meet Cunha's £62.5million release clause but Wolves have - according to BBC Sport - taken issue with how the Red Devils want to structure the deal.

United reportedly want to pay his release clause over a five-year period but it is required to be paid in full after the 2026-27 season concludes.

MK Dons sign ex-Premier League star

MK Dons have signed winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing from Derby County in a permanent contract.

The 33-year-old, who played in the Premier League with Cardiff City, will reunite with his former boss Paul Warne at Stadium MK after three seasons with Derby.

The length of Mendez-Laing's deal has not been disclosed.

Victor Osimhen nears Saudi move as Arsenal stall

Victor Osimhen is reportedly nearing a move to Saudi Arabia and is not prepared to wait for Arsenal to follow though interest.

According to the Daily Mail, the Nigerian forward is edging closer to a move to Al Hilal, with talks over personal terms taking place.

Amorim's 'brutal message' to Garnacho

Alejandro Garnacho's Man Utd career appears to be coming to a bitter end.

After blasting Ruben Amorim's decision not to start him in the Europa League final, his United manager told him to find a new club.

And according to the Daily Mail, Amorim told Garnacho to 'pray' he can find a new club this summer in front of his team-mates during a squad meeting.

Wojciech Szczesny 'close to new Barca deal'

Wojciech Szczesny is reportedly on the brink of signing a new contract with Barcelona.

According to UEFA.com reporter Piotr Koźmiński, Barcelona have always planned to give him a new deal and he will sign soon.

Joan Garcia speaks out on future

In-demand goalkeeper Joan Garcia says he is 'very calm' about his club future.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with Barcelona, and he came close to joining Arsenal in January.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa have also been cited as admirers of the 24-year-old.

Garcia told AS: "I'm very calm, and whatever decision I have to make, I'll think it through very carefully with my people and choose what will be best for me. And I'm sure it will be that way."

West Ham made Kevin De Bruyne approach

West Ham made an audacious approach to sign Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer, according to talkSPORT.

Manchester City opted not to renew the Belgian's contract, allowing him to leave this summer as a free agent.

Napoli look set to win the race for his signature after fending off competition from Chicago Fire.

The Hammers also tried to worm their way into the equation, according to reports, but De Bruyne decided he did not want to sign for another English club.

Matheus Cunha 'demanded' No. 10 shirt

Matheus Cunha insisted on being given the No. 10 shirt at Manchester United during transfer negotiations, according to talkSPORT.

The Brazilian is set to complete a £62.5million switch from Wolves once the summer transfer window opens this Sunday.

And he reportedly wants the pressure of the jersey once worn by the likes of Wayne Rooney and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The number is currently assigned to Marcus Rashford, but he is expected to leave this summer following his loan spell at Aston Villa.

Rasmus Hojlund suitors 'in total agreement'

Manchester United are reportedly creeping towards a permanent exit for under-fire striker Rasmus Hojlund.

According to InterLive, momentum is gathering around a swoop to take Hojlund to the San Siro. Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio, manager Simone Inzaghi and owners Oaktree Capital Management are all said to be in total agreement over a pursuit of the United flop.

Inter are reportedly attracted by the fact Hojlund would not command a huge transfer fee or wages. A four-year contract is believed to be in the works for the player, and the Nerazzurri are keen to do an initial loan deal with an option to buy, which would become compulsory when certain clauses are met.

Chelsea 'strong favourites' to sign Liam Delap

Chelsea are 'strong favourites' to win the race for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, according to TWTD.

The 22-year-old has held talks with Manchester United, Everton and Newcastle, as well as the Blues.

And although some in his camp favour a move to Old Trafford, Delap is believed to be leaning towards Stamford Bridge.

Both Chelsea, the player and Ipswich want a quick resolution so the Blues can bolster their squad for the Club World Cup and the Tractor Boys can set about assembling their ranks for the Championship.

Arsenal present Viktor Gyokeres transfer offer

Arsenal have reportedly presented an opening transfer offer to the representatives of Viktor Gyokeres.

According to Correio de Manha, Arsenal chiefs made their move during a trip to Lisbon to watch the Women's Champions League final on Saturday. A meeting was set up with Gyokeres' agent, and an offer was presented, with the details to be passed on to Sporting.

The Gunners are understood to have proposed a fee in the region of £58.7million, with add-ons sweetening the deal for the Portuguese side. Gyokeres, meanwhile, would be due to receive a salary worth just under £6m per year, for five years, which works out to just over £113,000 a week.

That figure would leave the Swede a long way behind Arsenal's highest earners, who are paid more than twice as much. But a mammoth signing-on bonus worth £10m would also form part of the proposed package.

The La Liga giants have reportedly asked for the Seagulls' financial demands as they scour the market for a new stopper.

It remains to be seen whether Verbruggen could throw a spanner in the works.

Amorim: Man Utd cannot do much this summer

Ruben Amorim does not believe that Manchester United can go for broke in the summer transfer window.

PSR continues to keep the spending of Premier League clubs on a tight leash, even for sides like United, whose squad needs major surgery.

Amorim is keen to run a tighter ship next season, and does not mind offloading a number of players to work with a smaller group.

"We are not allowed to do much in this summer, even with Champions League, so we are prepared for that," he said.

"Without Champions League, we don’t need a big squad, we can control the squad in a better way. Then we have a plan that is to bring some new players, of course."

Chelsea in discussions over Penders future

Genk chief Dimitri De Conde claims that discussions have taken place with Chelsea about Mike Penders remaining in Belgium for another season.

The Blues signed the goalkeeper prodigy from Genk last summer before sending him back to his former club on a season-long loan.

Penders is still only 19, and Chelsea may look to find him another temporary home before phasing him into the first team.

De Conde said: "We have already spoken extensively with Chelsea and Mike. Both parties are convinced that an extra season, with European football, would not be a bad option for Penders. But we are not the only candidate."

Man City shortlist Club Brugge star Jashari

Manchester City have added Club Brugge midfielder Ardon Jashari to their transfer shortlist, according to Sky Germany.

The 22-year-old was recently named Player of the Season in the Belgian top flight.

Chelsea eye £131m trio

Chelsea are keeping tabs on a shortlist of strikers to bolster Enzo Maresca's attack.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Strasbourg youngster Emanuel Emegha has emerged as a contender after ending the season with 14 Ligue 1 goals.

Emegha is valued by Transfermarkt at around £17million, and the Blues could strike a pre-agreement with the BlueCo-owned club for the player to join in 2026.

Stamford Bridge bosses are also believed to be keen on £84m-rated Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt, and Liam Delap, who has a £30m release clause in his Ipswich contract.

Alejandro Garnacho to Arsenal latest

Alejandro Garnacho has been offered to Arsenal by his representatives, according to TBR Football.

The winger has been told he can leave Manchester United this summer after kicking up a fuss for starting the Europa League final on the bench.

And Garnacho's camp are believed to have been in contact with the Gunners to update them on his situation.

Arsenal are on the hunt for a new left-winger with Rafael Leao, Kaoru Mitoma, Rodrygo and Nico Williams among the names linked.

Napoli and Chelsea have also shown interest in Garnacho.

Man Utd 'agree Liam Delap deal'

Manchester United have agreed the financial framework of a deal for Liam Delap, according to ESPN.

But the 22-year-old is yet to decide on his next club.

Chelsea, Newcastle United and Everton have also been heavily linked with the centre-forward, who scored 12 Premier League goals this season.
