Chelsea chief Todd Boehly can get Bayern Munich lifeline with eyes on £52m man
Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea's rapidly forgotten man.
Christopher Nkunku's future at Chelsea remains uncertain, with Bayern Munich reportedly still interested in the 27 year old - with talk of a deal now pending which could greatly ease the burden on Todd Boehly following another failed expensive purchase.
Despite struggling to secure a regular place in Enzo Maresca's team this season, and being linked with a January transfer window exit, a move away in January failed to materialise.
Manchester United were also rumoured to be considering offering Nkunku a lifeline, but the Frenchman was not keen on a loan deal, preferring a permanent move instead. Although a potential switch to the Allianz Arena didn't happen last month, the German giants could approach Chelsea again when the season ends.
Journalist Christian Falk reports that Bayern are preparing for several summer sales, including Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Bryan Zaragoza, which could raise over €100million (£83m). Joao Palhinha and Raphael Guerreiro are also reportedly not considered 'absolutely unsellable' if the right offers come in.
According to the report, Bayern need to sell to fund moves for players like Jamie Gittens and Nkunku. The France international has played 32 times for Chelsea in all competitions this season, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists.
Despite his impressive performances in the Conference League, he has been less effective when brought on as a substitute in the Premier League.
Chelsea coach Maresca recently stated that Nkunku had not indicated a desire to exit the club. "No, no. We didn't speak about nothing with Christopher," he revealed.

"But the last time I said that [he will listen if a player tells him they want to leave], it's because in the end, we want all the players, as we said before, to try to be happy; knowing the ones that are not playing, they are not happy."
Maresca added that Nkunku, who joined the club in 2023 for £52m, is likely to be seeking regular playing time to ensure his happiness.
