Wayne Rooney ready to face Everton boos

Rooney was summoned for talks with manager Ferguson when he returned to training with Manchester United yesterday for the first time since revelations about his private life emerged at the weekend.

With Rooney’s marriage to childhood sweetheart Coleen in the balance, Ferguson wanted to discover if his star player is in the right mental state to face former club Everton. But, as was the case with England in Switzerland on Tuesday, Rooney is desperate to play his part in a huge week for United.
After tomorrow’s short trip to Goodison Park, United take on Rangers in the Champions League and then Liverpool at home next Sunday. And having rediscovered his form after a sluggish start to the season, Rooney does not want to miss games – even though he expects more hostility than usual.
A club source said: “Wayne’s up for the game. He’s tough enough to handle anything.”
