The homecoming of the Cardiff-born striker on a season-long loan from Manchester City had been in doubt after League chairman Greg Clarke asked for financial assurances from cash-strapped Cardiff.
But the registration of Bellamy, 31, was ratified yesterday and he will face Doncaster.
It is understood that Manchester City will pay the majority of Bellamy’s wages. That prompted several Championship chairmen to contact the League to voice their disapproval of the deal.
Cardiff have financial woes, which include debts of £15 million, and Motherwell had threatened legal action in the High Court following money owed them from the transfer of Paul Quinn.
But league bosses say they are satisfied. A League statement read: “Following the receipt of assurances from Cardiff City, the Football League has confirmed the registration of Craig Bellamy as a Championship player.”
