Jose Mourinho could be about to stop Manchester United from completing a permanent move for Sofyan Amrabat, according to reports. The Morocco midfielder spent last season on loan at Old Trafford and was a standout performer in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.

Amrabat could still rejoin the Red Devils on a permanent deal after entering the final year of his contract at Fiorentina. They are reportedly looking to sell the 27-year-old over the next few weeks to avoid losing him on a free transfer at the end of the upcoming season.

United are yet to rule out another move for Amrabat but their plans could be scuppered by Mourinho, who is said to be keen on bringing him to Fenerbahce. According to HITC, the Turkish giants have entered talks with Fiorentina and are ready to offer Amrabat a deal.

It is said that he would jump at the chance to play under Mourinho should a contract offer arrive from Istanbul. However, the report adds that Amrabat is still holding out hope that United will come calling, which suggests there is still a chance of him returning to Old Trafford.

United had the option to buy Amrabat for around £20million at the end of his loan spell but they were not prepared to pay that much. Fiorentina would reportedly consider bids in the region of £17m and are said to have already rejected an £8.5m approach from Fenerbahce.

It remains to be seen how the situation will play out, with United still in the market for at least one new central midfielder. Manuel Ugarte was heavily linked with the Red Devils earlier in the window but is no longer believed to be a target following a breakdown in talks.

United have also been credited with an interest in Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes, who is one of several players thought to be under consideration. He is reportedly valued at £60m but Wolves may no longer be interested in selling with Pedro Neto set to join Chelsea in a £54m deal.

Fluminense playmaker Andre is also thought to be admired by United as a result of his versatility and high ceiling for potential growth. The 23-year-old has been attracting the attention of major European clubs for some time and could be available for a transfer fee of around £30m.
