The 2024/25 season kicks off tomorrow when FA Cup winners Manchester United clash with Premier League champions Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium. Next Friday, the new Premier League campaign commences when Fulham visit Old Trafford to face United, and clubs will be keen to complete business before then.

The deadline is August 30, though, and plenty of activity is expected to be on the horizon in the coming weeks.

Liverpool are among the elite top-flight sides set to complete business as Arne Slot searches for a new defensive midfielder to support his possession-based style of play.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking for a midfielder of their own and Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for a striker.

Across London, it feels like Chelsea is attempting to recruit an entirely new squad on top of their almost 50-player current roster.

Guardiola said: “It’s a huge relief that Ederson and Stefan [Ortega] stay. Ederson’s charisma, his consistency… I am really pleased that he stays."

And Postecoglou said of the pursuit of Solanke: "I don't think we have been looking to replace Harry [Kane]. You can't really replace a generational player.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will pay the 26-year-old's £51m release clause in full or if they will open negotiations for a lesser fee.

According to TEAMtalk, Berge has green-lit a transfer to Old Trafford after being identified as an alternative to PSG's Manuel Ugarte.
