The Premier League champions open their defence of the title against West Brom today and Chelseaboss Carlo Ancelottiwarned this season is going to be even tougher than last.
But he insists that despite losing five top players and signing only two, Chelsea are even stronger.
As Chelsea completed the £18.2million signing of Brazilian midfielder Ramires, Ancelotti said he wanted more titles and he believes his squad are good enough to win them.
“We have the possibility now to open up a cycle of success at Chelsea, and that is what we want to do. It is in our minds to do even better than last season,” he said.
“We have less doubt compared to the start of last year, because I have a better relationship with my players. They know me and I know them.
“For this reason we can improve.
“This squad are capable of it. We have a real possibility of maintaining this level.”
Ancelotti will give a late test to midfielder Frank Lampard this morning after he suffered an ankle injury in England’s 2-1 midweek win over Hungary at Wembley, but striker Didier Drogba and goalkeeper Petr Cech are fit to start.
