Palmer’s provocative celebration after scoring the opening goal in the final sparked a touchline brawl, with one of the most vocal detractors being Villarreal gem Alex Baena.
And ahead of this year’s final in Berlin, reports from Spain suggest Baena - who like his opposite number is now with the senior squad - and the Spanish FA haven’t forgotten Palmer’s ‘unsportsmanlike conduct’.
England did go on to win the game by virtue of the deflected Palmer strike, but the Chelsea star will be hoping tomorrow’s final is a little less dramatic than last year’s instalment.

Just when it looked like England were going to comfortably see the game out, a lengthy VAR check led to a Spain penalty in the 94th minute of the contest.
However, luck would prove to be on the Young Lions’ side, with James Trafford producing a sensational double save, firstly from the penalty and then off the rebound, to secure the Championship win.
Avoiding similar levels of drama in the German capital will likely be preferable, not that anyone of an England persuasion will care if football does indeed come home though.
And ahead of the Spanish showdown, Palmer has admitted the England camp is feeling positive about their chances.

Speaking to England’s YouTube channel, Palmer said: "Everyone's buzzing. Last night on the bus, tunes were on, [in the] changing room, everyone was just enjoying it.
"But obviously it's a short turnaround and it's a massive, massive game to change our lives, our family's lives, and to make everyone proud. That's what we're trying to do.
"I think if you've got to this final then you have to hopefully finish the job. It's all good getting to the final, and you've got to enjoy it because you don't get many moments to enjoy. But, no, everyone just wants to win so bad."
