Kylian Mbappe is set to surpass football icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic's net worth after securing a lucrative deal with Spanish titans Real Madrid.

The France captain and World Cup-winner has transferred from Paris Saint-Germain to Real, ending years of speculation over his next move. Mbappe had previously announced he would not be renewing his contract with PSG after this season, sparking rumours about a potential move to the Champions League victors.

Insiders revealed to ESPN that the forward has been given an astounding £127million signing bonus, which will be distributed over his five-year contract. That's in addition to his annual post-tax earnings of £12 million, the Mirror report.

This sum propels Mbappe, 25, ahead of his former PSG, Manchester United and Barcelona star Zlatan in terms of net worth. Celebrity Net Worth reported the French forward's valuation currently stands at £141m, with annual earnings of £41m.

Adding Mbappe's contract to his signing bonus brings that total to a staggering £268m. In comparison, Zlatan's net worth is estimated to be around £149million, which means his French counterpart is now comfortably ahead in the net worth stakes.

The superstar Swede played for a host of superclubs before retirning and is now an Operating Partner with RedBird Capital Partners, working as a senior advisor to AC Milan Ownership and Senior Management.

When the move was announced in December, he said:"This is not a decision that I take lightly - it is one which is very important and personal to me and my family. I've thought long and hard about the first steps in my post-playing career and I couldn't be more thrilled to start that journey as a member of RedBird and AC Milan.

Mbappe is now settling into his new environment after his transfer to Madrid. Sharing his excitement on Instagram, he said: "Nobody can understand how excited I am right now! A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams."

The international sensation joins a Madrid team fresh off a record-extending 15th Champions League triumph. They struck late to beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at Wembley on Saturday, with Mbappe desperate to ensure that major trophy success long continues.
