Gary Cahill headed the opening goal in the eighth minute but was substituted shortly before half-time due to an injury worry, and striker Johan Elmander doubled the lead in the 50th minute before Petrov completed the scoring after 80 minutes.

“But it is wrong for me to pick put individuals because there were a lot of great performances out there, given that it was their first game and everything that comes with that.”
Explaining the substitution of Cahill, Coyle said: “He felt his shin so we took him off as a precaution.
“We are not going to take a risk on someone of the stature of Gary Cahill and so we took him out of the fray.”
