Roy Hodgson vowed to fight to convince Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres to stay at Liverpool
Hodgson, unveiled as the new Anfield manager yesterday, had a meeting with Gerrard before calling Torres in South Africa, where he is preparing for Spain’s World Cup quarter-final against Paraguay.
“It is not my words Steve wants,” said Hodgson, “he wants actions. He wants to see the club make strides forward. The same applies to Torres.”
