Liverpool told to sign surprise Mo Salah replacement who has haunted Jurgen Klopp before
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been told to sign a player to replace Mohamed Salah who has caused him trouble in the past.
Liverpool have been urged to sign Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo as a replacement for Mohamed Salah. Former Chelsea striker and Reds fan Tony Cascarino says the Cameroon international would be the ideal player to step into the Egyptian's shoes.
Liverpool face the realistic prospect of losing Salah in the near future. They fought off interest from the Saudi Pro League in the summer, with Al-Ittihad reportedly willing to pay up to £200million.
The Saudis will likely come calling again in January but Liverpool will do their best to resist midway through a campaign. A move next summer appears most likely for Salah and his departure would leave a huge hole.
He is the club's leading goalscorer again this season with 10 goals in all competitions. But Mbeumo has also had an impressive start to the campaign in west London.
The winger has six goals and two assists to his name, including the clinching strike in a 2-0 win at Chelsea at the weekend. Mbeumo only turned 24 in August and Cascarino believes he will only continue to get better.
He wrote in The Times: "If Mohamed Salah ever leaves Liverpool, the club should go and buy Bryan Mbeumo as his replacement. At only 24, his best years are ahead of him and he has all the attributes to succeed at a club of Liverpool’s stature: he is versatile, durable and counterattacks with real ferocity.
"He has increased his goal output, with nine in the Premier League last season and six in only ten appearances this year, including the tap-in to an empty net that wrapped up Brentford’s 2-0 win away to Chelsea."
Mbeumo has been a key part of Brentford's squad since their promotion to the Premier League. He has fond memories of playing Liverpool having scored the third goal in the 3-1 win over the Reds in January this year.

He caused the Liverpool defenders trouble throughout, including nicking the ball off Ibrahima Konate before calmly sealing the win. At the time, Jurgen Klopp vented his frustration at the awarding of the goal, claiming Mbeumo had fouled Konate.
The German said: "The third goal, I have no clue. When you’re in a full sprint, get a push in the back, you lose control and you go down.
"We all thought it’s not a foul and VAR hides behind the phrase ‘it’s not clear and obvious’. The third goal has nothing to do with anything else, it’s just a foul. Come on.
"And it’s how I said, we lose 2-1 if we don’t score then ok, but the third goal, I cannot respect."
