World Cup 2010: Good news for Danny Jordaan
FINALLY some good news for Danny Jordaan, who had been criticised for taking the World Cup to South Africa and then had to watch as the hosts lost 3-0 against Uruguay.
Independent accountants Deloitte have labelled the tournament “a turning point for South Africa” in a report that says, “this major global event is a catalyst for much-needed infrastructure improvements”.
The game marked the anniversary of the death of hundreds of students in a 1976 uprising that helped end apartheid.
Jordaan was left to reflect: “I hope Bafana Bafana’s slaughtering on the field is also in the name of future hope.”
