Mason Mount set for Man Utd move
Mason Mount has confirmed his £60million transfer to Manchester United with an emotional goodbye to Chelsea on social media. The England midfielder has been with the Blues since 2005 and came through the Cobham academy, but with just a year left on his contract has opted to take up a new challenge at Old Trafford.
Mount completed his medical at Carrington on Tuesday ahead of the move, after the two clubs were able to move past the deadlock in negotiations over a transfer fee - with the Red Devils set to pay an initial £55m with a further potential £5m in add-ons, having reportedly signed a five-year contract with the option of a further year.
But the 24-year-old first reflected on his time as a Chelsea player, having won the Champions League in 2021 in addition to being named the club's Player of the Year twice - for the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons.
In a video via social media addressed to fans, Mount said: "This may not come as a surprise to you but it doesn't make it any easier to tell you I have made a decision to leave Chelsea.
"I feel you deserve more than just a written statement so I wanted to tell you directly how grateful I've been for all of your support over the last 18 years."
"I know some of you won't be happy with my decision but it is what's right for me at this moment of my career.
"I joined Chelsea when I was six years old and we've been through a lot together, winning the Youth Cup, my Player of the Year awards, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup and of course that unforgettable night when we won the Champions League.
"I want to say thank you to the academy, Jim and Neil, for being so influential to me from such a young age. The managers I've worked under, Frank, Thomas and Graham. The backroom staff, the unsung heroes of Cobham.
"All of my team-mates over the years that have become my brothers. My family, for the continuous love and support and most importantly you guys, for sticking with me throughout. I wish you all the best."

Mount's link-up with United boss Erik ten Hag has been five years in the making, as the former Ajax head coach wanted to sign Mount when the midfielder was on loan in the Eredivisie with Vitesse.
However, the Dutchman has been made to wait and pay up to £60m for his man, who is set to line up alongside Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in the heart of United's midfield next season.
Chelsea have been keen to offload several stars this summer in order to balance the books, with Mount joining the likes of Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy already out of the door at Stamford Bridge.
