The Glazers have selected their preferred Manchester United bidder, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has offered club icons jobs, and Erik ten Hag's summer transfer plans have been hampered, according to reports. Express Sport provides all the latest updates coming out of Old Trafford as a change of ownership grows ever closer.
According to The Sun, the Glazers have selected Sir Jim Ratcliffe as their preferred candidate to enter exclusive talks to buy United.
The British billionaire's majority stake offer is said to have been favoured over Sheikh Jassim's plan to complete a full takeover and wipe out the club's debt.
Reports claim that Joel and Avram Glazer would retain around a 20 per cent stake in United under Ratcliffe's regime, while their four siblings will offload their shares.
The Sun add that the Raine Group will disclose final details of the successful bid in the coming days.

Sheikh Jassim plans legend roles
But there are no further concrete suggestions that Ratcliffe is on the verge of winning the race to take over at Old Trafford.
It will come as good news for those wanting Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim at the helm.
And ESPN claim Sheikh Jassim's representatives have approached some United icons from Sir Alex Ferguson's glory years to take up senior roles at the club under his ownership.
He wants to mirror the likes of AC Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid in having Red Devils legends among the hierarchy going forward.
