Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has broken his silence after suffering a fractured metatarsal against Sevilla on Thursday. Martinez enjoyed a sensational first season at England, but his campaign ended abruptly after leaving Old Trafford on crutches.

He wrote on Instagram: "Not the way I imagined what's been a very special season would end, but sometimes we face obstacles along the way that we have to overcome to make us stronger, and we learn from them."
"I know that I'll be back very soon to go for more. In the meantime, I'll continue to support all my teammates to achieve our objectives.
"The number of messages and support I've received has been amazing. They're giving me strength and encouragement at this moment. Many, many thanks to you all from the bottom of my heart."

Martinez's injury is disastrous for Erik ten Hag, who sanctioned a £57million move from Ajax last summer.
The 25-year-old has played 45 times this season and is United's only left-sided centre-back, though Luke Shaw will soon return from injury and can cover.
Ten Hag's side are still battling in the Europa League and FA Cup, with crunch clashes against Sevilla and Brighton and Hove Albion to come next week.
Raphael Varane is also unavailable for 'a few weeks', leaving Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof with big shoes to fill.
