Chelsea hiring Frank Lampard could be great news for four players ahead of Wolves clash
Frank Lampard is set to take charge of Chelsea's meeting with Wolves on Saturday.
Chelsea interim coach Bruno Salter reviews the Liverpool game
Four Chelsea stars are likely to celebrate Frank Lampard's interim appointment more than the rest, having each endured tricky campaigns thus far. The Blues legend is set to be unveiled as Graham Potter's temporary successor on Thursday, and with two days to prepare for a Premier League meeting with Wolves this weekend, Express Sport takes you through the quartet in question...
Mason Mount
Lampard showed tremendous faith in Mount from the word go, allowing him to excel while at Derby County and throwing him straight in at the deep end at Stamford Bridge. The 24-year-old was virtually ever-present in Lampard's first season at the helm and played 54 matches across all competitions during the campaign in which he was sacked.
A return to that kind of belief from his manager may steer Mount back on the straight and narrow, with fans generally underwhelmed by his recent performances. Numbers back up the supporters' feelings, too, with the attacking midfielder notching only three times in the Premier League this term.

Hakim Ziyech
Signed during Lampard's tenure, Ziyech has consistently found it difficult to nail down a spot in Chelsea's starting XI. He looked set to jump ship in January before an administrative mishap left his move to Paris Saint-Germain in tatters.
However, Lampard's appointment could give the Moroccan a new lease of life. The 30-year-old, who has featured in only 13 Premier League games this season, played 39 matches in all competitions back in 2020/21, including a start in Lampard's final game before being sacked.

Christian Pulisic
Another player to start that fixture - an FA Cup fourth-round clash with Luton Town - was Pulisic. Like Ziyech, the American has found regular game time hard to come by this season amid intense competition for minutes out wide.
But Lampard has proven that he can get the best out of him, with Pulisic managing the best goalscoring haul of his career during the boss' first season in charge, which is a sharp contrast to the solitary strike he has produced in the Premier League this campaign.
Edouard Mendy
With the general consensus being that Chelsea need a goalkeeper upgrade to go to the next level, it will be interesting to see how Lampard approaches the Blues' two current stoppers.
Of the two, Mendy will undoubtedly be happier than Kepa Arrizabalaga, given that Lampard dropped the latter and signed the former during his first spell at Stamford Bridge. Kepa has since upped his game, but it remains to be seen whether that will be enough to win back Lampard's trust after previously committing a host of errors.
