Liverpool forward Diogo Jota could miss the World Cup (Image: GETTY)
Reports in Portugal suggest Diogo Jota is set to miss the World Cup through injury after picking up a calf problem in Liverpool's gritty 1-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. The former Wolves forward was stretchered off in stoppage time after writhing around in pain on the ground and now the results of his medical tests spell bad news for club and country.
According to A Bola, Jota will now miss with World Cup where he was set to feature for Portugal.
The 2019 Nations League winners have already lost Jota's former Wolves team-mate Pedro Neto to ankle surgery in recent weeks.
Now Jota is expected to miss at least one month of action, as per the report, as the road to recovery begins for the 25-year-old.
Technically, should he be fit for action in one month, he could still be named in the Portugal squad but A Bola suggest that is unlikely.
