Premier League title race: Man City maintain healthy lead at top
Newcastle United pulled off something of a coup by luring Kieran Trippier to the club from Atletico Madrid in a £12million transfer this month. His arrival was a signal of intent as the first incoming under Saudi-backed ownership, and other established European names could follow.
Speaking to The Athletic, Trippier told Alan Shearer that his move to a relegation-threatened team as a Champions League regular could persuade others to join the project on Tyneside.
He said: "I know the manager [Eddie Howe], and I've worked with him before [at Burnley], and I had good chats with him about the project and what could happen.
"I thought that maybe I could tempt other players to come here, too, that if I've joined Newcastle maybe it shows we can get out of it."
Express Sport identifies four stars who Trippier could tempt to join him at St. James' Park this year.

Luis Suarez has been linked with a Premier League return this month after falling down Diego Simeone's pecking order at Atletico.
He reportedly wants one final challenge in a top European league and is said to be of interest at Aston Villa, under the guidance of former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard.
But Newcastle certainly have the financial power to tie the 34-year-old down to a short contract.
And Trippier would undoubtedly help him settle, given they won La Liga together in the Spanish capital last season.
