Hernandez has reportedly been identified as a target by those in command at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues able to benefit from the addition of a new recruit to provide cover for the injured Ben Chilwell.
However, such a move would be 'expensive and difficult' to engineer due to Milan's reluctance to sell the Frenchman in the middle of the season.
Leeds United will be forced to wait until the summer transfer window to land Red Bull Salzburg playmaker Brendan Aaronson, according to The Telegraph.

And now 90min say Chelsea have held talks with the wantaway Digne before and that he would still be keen on making the move to London.
Chelsea supposedly believe Digne is the ideal fit to replace the injured Chilwell and could even try to strike a permanent deal.

Kylian Mbappe has made it clear he's not leaving Paris Saint-Germain to join Real Madrid in the January transfer window.
But the Frenchman stopped short of committing his future to PSG beyond the end of the current season.
The striker will enter the final 12 months of his contract in Paris next summer and said to CNN: "No, I'm not joining Real Madrid in January. In January it's not happening.
"I'm with Paris Saint-Germain, I'm really happy and I will 100 per cent finish the season as PSG player.
"I'll give everything to win with Paris all titles this year."
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hinted that January reinforcements are unlikely, at least in midfield.
That is because of three players - Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Tyler Morton - whom he lavished with praise.
"I think because the team stayed together for a long time now, we maybe lost Gini [Wijnaldum] last year but the majority of the team stayed together and it helps us develop things," Klopp said.
"That's why when you have a core group that play together for a while, then you can put in younger players as well.
"Like we did at the beginning of the season with Harvey, who was absolutely outstanding and massively impressive in that period.
"When you bring in Curtis, the way he performs is because we are stable and because of his talent. And now Tyler is coming in and that’s possible because of how the rest around him works."

Digne has recently emerged as a potential target for Chelsea, although the European champions could decide to recall one of their many players out on loan if a deal cannot be struck, according to Goal.

Liverpool will have no shortage of rivals in the race to sign Leeds United winger Raphinha next month, according to The Sun.
Chelsea have also been credited with a desire to land the 25-year-old, who has scored eight Premier League goals since the beginning of the campaign.
The aforementioned pair have reportedly been joined by a third club in weighing up a move for Raphinha, suggesting that Leeds could struggle to keep hold of their man at the turn of the year.
Sevilla have reached out to Manchester United over the possibility of taking Anthony Martial off their hands in the new year, according to Sky Sports.
The 26-year-old recently informed Ralf Rangnick of his desire to leave the club in search of regular game time after tumbling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Martial has registered 10 appearances for the Red Devils since the beginning of the campaign but has only started on two occasions in the Premier League.
Arsenal are reportedly having second thoughts over whether to launch a January move for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
The 21-year-old, who has turned down several contract offers from the Italian heavyweights, has been strongly linked with the Gunners in recent weeks.
However, there are a number of potential sticking points that could see Mikel Arteta withdraw his interest in signing Vlahovic at the turn of the year, according to the print edition of the Daily Mirror.
Newcastle United are currently staring at the possibility of a return to the Championship next season after winning just one Premier League match since the beginning of the campaign.
They are said to be keen on reinforcing their defensive ranks next month and have already drawn up plans to spend heavily in order to do so, according to The Sun.
It is claimed that the Magpies could be poised to splash £17million on the capture of a new central defender with World Cup-winning experience to aid their fading hopes of top-flight survival.

Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest in the 29-year-old as of late, but it seems as though Arsenal have emerged as the early favourites to win the race for his signature.
Manchester United could reportedly struggle to pip Barcelona to the signing of Borussia Dortmund marksman Erling Haaland ahead of next season.
The Catalan giants have been credited with a strong desire to bring the 21-year-old to the Nou Camp, with club president Joan Laporta said to be a keen admirer.
He is determined to prevent a front three of Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior from linking up at Real Madrid, according to Marca.
It is claimed that Laporta is prepared to fight tooth and nail to stop this from happening by ensuring that Haaland joins Barcelona.
The Norwegian striker is thought to have a release clause in the region of £68million written into his contract, which is set to come into effect at the end of the current campaign.
