Liverpool might be forced to pay more than the current asking price for Lille forward Jonathan David if they pursue a transfer in January, according to reports. The Reds were linked with the Canadian during the summer.
Boss Jurgen Klopp made just one addition to his squad before the start of the 2021-22 season despite a devastating injury crisis last term.
Liverpool just about clawed their way into the top four in the final weeks of the 2020-21 campaign.
Several injuries suffered by key players had threatened to derail their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.
Klopp was widely warned that he might need to sign another winger as back up to the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane but ultimately decided against such a deal.

Lille’s David was one of the names linked to Anfield and the wide man has enjoyed a successful campaign in Ligue 1.
He has scored 12 goals in 21 appearances, including 10 in just 15 league fixtures.
And it has now been reported that David’s valuation could increase ahead of the January transfer window.
According to L’Equipe, Lille are understood to want £30m but that valuation could go up if they reach the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

That will likely rule out a transfer for another forward. David, who has also been widely linked with Manchester United and Arsenal, might stay put in France.
“We’re so happy, everybody was so happy for him (Minamino) that he scored the goal,” Klopp told journalists after the 4-0 win over Arsenal.
“The way he played today reflects how well he is training at the moment.
