Manchester United will be fearful of missing out on Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland next summer, with Barcelona reportedly plotting a smart pursuit. The La Liga giants have identified the Norwegian hotshot as a key target and are prepared to go to drastic lengths to seal his signature.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana plan to reserve as much money as possible over the coming months to help fund a summer pursuit of Haaland.
Barca will also focus on lowering their wage bill significantly, with a view on trimming it down by nearly 40 per cent by the end of the season.
The Catalan giants are said to have around £17m (€20m) available to sign reinforcements in January, having already agreed on a number of pay cuts with key players. However, the same report states that several high-profile club figures want to save the money and put it towards a deal for Haaland next summer despite their struggles this season.
By implementing cuts and holding off on signings, Barca could give themselves a realistic opportunity of pinching Haaland from under Man United's nose next summer.

They will however face huge competition for Haaland's services.
United's rivals Man City are also in the frame and are set to hold talks with the Bundesliga superstar's representatives in January.
After failing to sign Harry Kane this summer, City have made Haaland their priority target ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Haaland's father, Alf-Inge, played for the club from 2000 to 2003, which could help them lure him to the Etihad Stadium and earn bragging rights over the Red Devils.
