Manchester United and Liverpool have learned how much it will cost to boost their midfield options with the blockbuster transfer of the highly-rated Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to reports.
The French starlet’s impressive performances in Ligue 1 have caught the eye of several of Europe’s biggest clubs. United and Liverpool have both been keen to sign a new midfielder.
A big-spending summer by the Red Devils saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer upgrade his defence and attack. The Norwegian hopes that Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo will help him elevate the Old Trafford outfit to Premier League title contenders.
However, some fans and pundits have criticised United for not acquiring a defensive midfielder to tie together their side.
Meanwhile, Liverpool chose not to replace Gini Wijnaldum in the summer following his free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. Boss Jurgen Klopp presented a chance to 18-year-old Harvey Elliott but the youngster devastatingly dislocated his ankle in August.

Both sides have been linked with a move for 21-year-old Tchouameni. It has now been reported how much the former Bordeaux star will cost.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Monaco are demanding at least £50.1m from Premier League sides.
Real Madrid and Manchester City are also believed to be interested in the player, who cost Monaco £15.2m just over a year ago.
Tchouameni has said that he wants to be the complete midfield player and does not want to be considered just a defensive midfielder.
