Ronaldo backed for successful second Man Utd spell by Bale
Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother has shared a sweet picture of herself and Cristiano Ronaldo Jr ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Newcastle today. The Portugal international is expected to start the match at Old Trafford. And it will be his first appearance for the club since the 2009 Champions League final.
Manchester United go up against Newcastle today with the eyes of the world on Old Trafford.
Fans are looking forward to seeing Ronaldo in action for the first time since they lost 2-0 to Barcelona in the 2009 Champions League final 12 years ago.
The match won’t be shown on television, meaning tickets to the stadium itself are going for a premium rate.
And even Ronaldo’s own mother, Dolores Aveiro, is excited.
Ahead of the game, she’s taken to Instagram to share a sweet snap of herself with her grandson.
Ronaldo Jr looks every bit his father wearing the Red Devils’ training kit, with Dolores giving him a hug and a kiss.

"What he developed in his years at Real Madrid has impressed us all.
"He is one of the best of course in the air, his timing and desire to get on the end of crosses is second to non.
"He still hits the target 99 times out of 100 when he shoots from outside the box as well.
"He knows the game more, definitely, he knows which positions to drop into and when to run in behind and he is still as quick it looks like from the stats.
"He's in such good nick still and will be looking in the next few years to play and score as many goals as he can.
"We don't have his skill set in the team, the mix, no one has really. He is one of the best players that's ever played the game."

Rio Ferdinand, meanwhile, feels Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford should be ‘weirdos’ in trying to learn from Ronaldo.
“If I’m Rashford and Greenwood, I’m the happiest kids on the planet right now,” he said.
“They have the opportunity to work with someone like Cristiano that you never thought would have been possible, someone ambitious and ridiculous.
“I think they have to be like sponges, they have to be students.
“They have to watch him. I’d become obsessed with him if I was a kid there.
“It doesn’t matter what position you’re playing in but if you’re a striker, then you’re obsessed.

“I’d be watching him thinking ‘I’m a weirdo’ because you want to just know and see what he does to be the best and stay at the top there for so many years.”
Reflecting on Ronaldo’s first spell at the club, Ferdinand also admitted he gave them a scary edge to their attack.
“I felt that as a defender, as long as we kept a clean sheet, we would always have a chance because at some point in the game, he would get an opportunity and he scores,” he said.
“We always felt like that, we just had pure confidence.
“They've got the opportunity to do that this season, with Ronaldo, with Greenwood, with Rashford, with (Edinson) Cavani, with Sancho, with (Bruno) Fernandes, with (Paul) Pogba.
“I’m reeling off a ridiculous amount of names. But behind that, the other players have to do their job.”
