Manchester United confirm Cristiano Ronaldo return
Cristiano Ronaldo will be Manchester United’s next summer signing after a fee with Juventus was agreed on Friday. The Portugal international previously spent six years at Old Trafford. And he’s now set to join Bruno Fernandes as central figures in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attack.
Manchester United weren’t initially planning to sign Ronaldo.
But, when it emerged he was close to joining Manchester City, the Red Devils sprung into action to complete a deal.
United then announced the return of Ronaldo on Friday, saying: “Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical.
“Cristiano, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has so far won over 30 major trophies during his career, including five UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, seven league titles in England, Spain and Italy, and the European Championship for his native Portugal.
“In his first spell for Manchester United, he scored 118 goals in 292 games.
“Everyone at the club looks forward to welcoming Cristiano back to Manchester.”

And he may agree with Fernandes when it comes to United potentially signing Ruben Neves from Wolves.
The Portugal international has been a target throughout the summer and, with the clock ticking down, there’s still time for the Red Devils to strike a deal.
It was told by Eurosport’s Dean Jones earlier in the summer that Fernandes wanted Neves to join the club, having been impressed by his compatriot.
“It’s just a case of is it Ruben Neves? Is it a defensive midfielder? It’s all going to depend and it would really give us an insight into what Solskjaer’s mentality is going into the season and what type of football we can expect from him.
“Is he sticking with that McTominay and Fred? Or is he going to be more open than that, with a ball-player like Neves that can come in.
“I’m told that the Neves pursuit is genuine. And while Arsenal are the most active in trying to get that over the line, United are still in the conversation.
“Bruno Fernandes is obviously very keen for Neves to join and the club are aware of that.”
And Ronaldo may be in agreement.
The incoming star has played alongside Neves for Portugal, with the pair helping their country win the Nations League together.
