Tottenham have been granted the perfect circumstances to revive their transfer interest in Samuel Umtiti, who is the source of major tensions at Barcelona. The club are desperate for the Frenchman to move on, with the threat of contract termination now being seriously considered by the Catalan side.

In a bizarre and extreme turn of events, the Catalan side are now threatening to terminate Umtiti’s contract if he does not commit to another team before the end of the window.
Such a threat cannot be seen as empty, as the same thing happened to Barca’s former youngster Matheus Fernandes earlier in the summer.
Clearly, Umtiti is not ready to call time on his Barcelona dream, but boss Ronald Koeman reportedly feels he gave him ample opportunities to change his mind in pre-season that were not taken.
Luckily for Spurs, one club’s trash is another club’s treasure.

Sporting director Fabio Paratici has already signed centre-back Cristian Romero this summer, but that has not stopped the club going after more.
Painfully, both Jules Kounde and Pau Torres reportedly turned their noses up at the prospect of heading to Spurs due to their lack of Champions League football.
Of course, that could also impact on Umtiti’s preferences, but it appears as though he does not have much of a choice.

The 31-cap France international has never nailed down a consistent starting sport at the Camp Nou, but he has regularly been fancied for the hyper-competitive national team.
Above all else, Spurs would be getting hold of a player who has competed at the very highest level, not to mention a World Cup victory in 2018.
More than likely, Umtiti would also be available in a cut-price deal given that Barca are desperate to cut down their wage budget, which represents a more pressing issue than recouping transfer fees.
Everything seems to be lined up, the next move lies with Paratici and Nuno Espirito Santo.
