Tottenham transfer chief Fabio Paratici has reportedly whittled down his search for a new midfielder down to 'two main targets'. Nuno Espirito Santo is currently getting his squad ready for the start of the new Premier League season.
New signings Bryan Gil, Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero could all be included in the matchday squad against Manchester City on Sunday.
But more activity is expected at Tottenham before the close of the transfer window.
First on Espirito Santo's list of priorities is resolving the issue surrounding Harry Kane's uncertain future.
The former Wolves boss confirmed earlier this week that he plans to have Kane available for selection against City, the club who are seemingly leading the race for the England captain.
And according to Portuguese reporter Pedro Almeida, Spurs have two options they're currently looking at.
It is reported that Sporting Lisbon's Palhinha is of interest to Spurs, although no official offer has been made.
Tottenham are also said to be tracking Denis Zakaria, who has also attracted attention from Arsenal.
The report claims that Tottenham could be set to make contact this week in regards to moves for either player.

There have also been some question marks over Tanguy Ndombele's future at Tottenham with the Frenchman not featuring in any of the pre-season friendlies.
Speaking after the 1-0 win over Arsenal at the weekend, Espirito Santo indicated that Ndombele isn't part of his immediate plans.
"We have all the players, we have to assess all the individual aspects of each and every one of the players," he said.
"Tanguy is not with us today. He is not injured but we consider it is not yet the moment for him to be part of the game."
