Chelsea have reportedly already moved on to their next top summer transfer target with a reported agreement in place for Romelu Lukaku to join. The Blues have been on the hunt for a new striker all summer having initially shown interest in Erling Haaland.
Borussia Dortmund made it clear early on they weren't willing to let the striker leave though, particularly with Jadon Sancho heading to Manchester United.
The Norway international has since spoken out about his future, insisting he expects to be playing for Dortmund this upcoming season.
That opens the door for Haaland's reported £68million release clause to be activated in 12 months.
But Chelsea have opted to stick with their initial plan of signing a striker this summer and Lukaku quickly emerged as the alternative option.
Thomas Tuchel deployed three at the back when he took over at Chelsea with the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta the usual picks.
The German head coach though is said to be keen on bringing in more reinforcements at the back.
And Jules Kounde has been touted as the top target for Chelsea with Sevilla seemingly open to negotiations.
According to Spanish outlet ABC Deportes, Tuchel has personally made it clear to Chelsea's hierarchy that Kounde is the man he wants brought in.
