Tottenham’s pursuit of a striker this summer has taken a twist after Fiorentina reportedly received a sizeable bid for Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian is believed to be on Spurs’ radar, but they are seemingly not the only side impressed with his prolific displays in Serie A last season.

Luckily for Spurs, transfer insider Alfredo Pedulla claims that the Nerazzurri’s £45m approach was rejected by Fiorentina.
However, the bid serves as a wake-up call for two key reasons.
Firstly, they know that it will take a huge offer to prise him away from Fiorentina if Inter’s offer was not enough to tempt them to the negotiating table.
Such a fee would be a gamble given that Vlahovic’s 21-goal haul was by far and away the best of his young career, and could yet be looked back on as a flash in the pan.

It seems as though Fiorentina recognise that both Inter and Spurs could be in line for a sizeable transfer windfall, so they could yet milk more cash out of selling their star striker.
Secondly, Spurs’ interest is matched by a formidable opponent, given Inter romped to the Serie A title in impressive fashion last season.
Vlahovic is an imposing figure at 6ft 3in and has established himself as a potent finisher, while at just 21-years-old, he has years to perfect his craft up top.
The importance of the Serbian’s role at Spurs would depend on the future of Kane, who is yet to report back for pre-season training.

Chairman Daniel Levy has slapped a £160m price-tag on the striker’s head, making it almost impossible for Kane to get his wish of a move away which could cause tensions down the line.
With former Spurs target Danny Ings now off the market after being signed by Aston Villa, they may have to act quickly when it comes to Vlahovic as Inter could follow up their rejected bid with something altogether more tempting.
