Man Utd: What could tempt Haaland to Old Trafford?
Manchester United are set to pursue Erling Haaland in a year’s time. The Borussia Dortmund star isn’t a priority for now, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set to rely on Edinson Cavani for the upcoming campaign. So Express Sport will now take a look at four players they could include in the operation.
The France international has blown hot and cold ever since arriving from Monaco in the summer transfer window of 2015.
He scored 17 goals in his first season at Old Trafford and bagged 23 across all competitions under Solskjaer in the 2020/2021 campaign.
But after netting just nine times last term, the pressure is on.
Borussia Dortmund were interested in signing the forward in 2017, when Jose Mourinho wanted to cut him loose, and he’d be a good like for like replacement for Haaland.

And, like Martial, the Netherlands international must show he’s got what it takes to thrive at Old Trafford this term.
The Dutchman was limited to just four Premier League starts last term, spending the majority of the campaign stuck on the bench.
But, after bulking up in the gym over the summer, the 24-year-old will be eager to show what he’s all about.
If he does disappoint again, the Red Devils won’t hesitate to cut him loose. And, given Dortmund rate his talents, a move to the Westfalenstadion would potentially suit all parties.
Dean Henderson is expected to start the new season as United’s No 1 goalkeeper.
Yet if he drops to the bench again, just like he did last season, then it’s possible the Red Devils will move to get him off the books.
In an ideal world, David De Gea would come good again. Then, they’d be able to offload Henderson and use Tom Heaton as backup.
So much will depend on how the two shot-stoppers fare.
If De Gea gets back to his best, United won’t want Henderson around to pose problems. And Dortmund would be able to give him a good platform to perform, granting him the chance to play regularly over in the Bundesliga.

Victor Lindelof
With United signing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, that means Victor Lindelof is likely to spend more time on the bench next term.
And if the Sweden international doesn’t like that, then a possible move away may happen.
Lindelof is a good defender but, in the Premier League, his lack of physicality can sometimes be exposed.
He may find German football far kinder and, as an international with years of experience under his belt, Dortmund could be tempted to take him on board.
After all, Mats Hummels isn’t getting any younger…
