The German defender has barely featured for Arsenal recently, and reports had suggested he could be exiled from the team until his contract expires this summer.
After the prospect of Mustafi to Liverpool was first suggested, Gunners fans took to social media to express they’d be happy to see him go.
One Arsenal fan wrote: “Mustafi to Liverpool would be my favourite transfer of all time.”
Another posted: “Announce Mustafi to Liverpool,” while tagging the official Arsenal account.

“Mustafi to Liverpool is a bigger dream than Partey to Arsenal,” one joked.
“If Mustafi goes to Liverpool I hope we include a gentleman’s agreement that he can only go as long as he starts against us,” one Gunners fan quipped.

They face the prospect of playing youngsters Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips at the back this season, but could have to play Henderson at the back from now on.

“If Mustafi isn't good enough for Arsenal he isn't good enough for Liverpool either. Simple as that,” one wrote.
“Liverpool should be desperate but are they Mustafi desperate?” another asked.
One Liverpool fan summed up the situation by commenting: “I would rather Razor ruddock put his boots back on!!”
