Man Utd: Pundit accuses Ed Woodward of lying about transfers
Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been labelled "incompetent" for making a large number of transfer mistakes during his time at the club. Woodward has been in his current role since the retirement of former manager Sir Alex Ferguson and departure of chief executive David Gill in 2013. Woodward is in charge of transfers in and out of the club as well as the future of the first-team manager, among other off-field roles.

"That's why this team hasn't really moved forward in the last seven years because the squad hasn't been built properly, cleverly, with a proper direction, with a name, with a target."
United were heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho in the summer but refused to pay the £108million asking price.
Laurens says blame must lie at Woodward's door for failing to sign Sancho and a number of other targets United managers have been keen on signing in recent seasons.
He added: "If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer asks you for Jadon Sancho, there's a reason to it.

"He's not asking you for Sancho because 'Do you know what? I like his haircut'.
"No, he's asking you for Sancho because he can bring you something different that you don't already have in your team, so pay the money.
"There's a price for everything, there's a price for Jadon Sancho - pay it.
"You look at this team now and you think: 'Do you know what? We could do with a Jadon Sancho there'. Well of course you could and you should have bought him.

"We can go on [about] every single position in that starting XI and we'll have the same conclusion - 'Yeah, you could do with that player that you didn't sign, you could do with him, but you didn't sign him, you could do with him but you missed out on him as well' and all of that is Ed Woodward's fault."
