Tottenham transfer target confirms 'serious' talks and hints deal could be revived
Tottenham brought in Carlos Vinicius as a back-up striker late in the summer transfer window.
Carlos Vinicius sends message after Tottenham Hotspur move
Tottenham summer transfer target Wout Weghorst has opened up on how close he came to joining Jose Mourinho's side and still holds dreams of a move to the Premier League. Spurs spent most of the summer transfer window looking to bring in a second striker to provide some back up to Harry Kane.
A host of forwards were linked with a move to north London including the likes of Callum Wilson and Ollie Watkins.
Weghorst was also among those being considered by Tottenham before they settled on signing Carlos Vinicius on a season-long loan from Benfica.
The 25-year-old was one of the most potent strikers in European football last season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions.
Mourinho will likely call upon the striker to enable Kane to be fully rested for big games.

The Spurs boss has also hinted that he could play two up top with both Vinicius and Kane lining up alongside each other.
But it appears as though Weghorst was also high up on Tottenham's wishlist for the European transfer window.
Wolfsburg weren't willing to listen to loan offers though, forcing Tottenham to look elsewhere.
And Weghorst has spoken of how close a move to Tottenham came during negotiations.

“I can be honest. Of course, I knew that there was interest left and right," he told Kicker.

“Of course, you are interested in something like that too. It is also a confirmation that I’m on the right track.
“I’m 28 now, and I’d like to win titles. I made that clear here.
“I hope that we improve as a team so that we can possibly do more overall.”
But the Dutch striker did go on to aim a come-and-get-me plea to Tottenham in the future.
“If, one day, I have the feeling that I cannot achieve my goals at VfL, then I will say so," he added.
“That is currently not the case. The Premier League is still a dream of mine.”
