Liverpool boos Jurgen Klopp has given a gloomy outlook on when Alisson could return from injury. The Brazilian was rested in the midweek Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal with Adrian coming in to take his place.
Alisson was expected to return to the starting line-up on Sunday for the game against Villa but it soon emerged that he wouldn't be in contention after picking up an injury in training.
Liverpool had make do without Alisson for two months early on last season after he sustained a calf strain.
And it appears as though he may face a similar spell on the sidelines with this new issue.
Speaking before kick-off against Villa, Klopp confirmed Alisson had sustained a shoulder injury in training.

And he suggested it could be some time before Alisson is fit to return.
"Yesterday an incident in training," he said.
"Very unlucky. Two players clash into each other. One gets up and the other doesn't.
"The one who didn't get up was Ali.

"We don't know 100 per cent but it was clear that he can't play today.
"We have to do further assessment but he's injured and now we hope that it will go really quickly.
"It's international break and I'm pretty sure after that he will not be ready and then we have to see week-by-week."
Alisson's presence was clearly missed in the first half against Villa as well.
Just five minutes into the match, Adrian made a catastrophic error which led to Ollie Watkins opening the scoring for the hosts.
The Spaniard played a slack pass intended for Joe Gomez only for Jack Grealish to steal the ball away before laying a simple pass to Watkins.
And the summer signing bagged his second of the game with Grealish once again providing the assist.
Watkins was released down Liverpool's right-hand side before cutting in on his right foot to blast an effort past a helpless Adrian.
