Chelsea vs Liverpool: Premier League match preview
Liverpool cruised to victory over title hopefuls Chelsea, who played 45 minutes with 10 men, at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in an encouraging performance and result for their ambitions of defending their Premier League title.
Visitors Liverpool were the team on top in the first half without forcing any saves out of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Chelsea looked set to be heading into the break happy but then saw Andreas Christensen sent off for hauling down Sadio Mane as the last man.
Initially handed a yellow, the Dane's caution was upgraded to a straight red card to reduce the hosts to 10 men on the cusp of half-time.
And with Thiago replacing Jordan Henderson at half-time due to injury, Liverpool were thoroughly dominant after the interval too.
Sadio Mane struck twice, first with a header and the second time with a tap-in after forcing an error from Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Debutant Thiago Alcantara almost put the pressure on Liverpool by giving away a penalty for fouling Werner, but Alisson then saved Jorginho's penalty.
And that allowed the away side to see out a deserved triumph in the capital. Express Sport rates and slates Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool players.

Liverpool player ratings vs Chelsea - Premier League
Alisson - 8
Fine penalty save showed what a vital position a goalkeeper can be in a successful team.
Trent Alexander-Arnold - 6
Quieter one than usual for him but that is only relative to his usual incredible standards.
Fabinho - 8
Impressive performance enabled him to play Werner out of the game through anticipation alone.
Virgil van Dijk - 7
Strong as ever, seemed to work well with Fabinho as his foil mopping up the Chelsea attacks.
Andy Robertson - 7
Scuffed volley from eight yards a rare lapse – otherwise his usual dangerous self.
