Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer holds secret Thiago transfer meeting 'in person'
Manchester United have entered the fray for Liverpool transfer target Thiago Alcantara.
Thiago Alcantara ‘stood out’ in Champions League says pundit
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly met with Thiago to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford. The Spaniard looked destined to join Liverpool this summer but Manchester United have now entered the running while the Premier League champions hesitate over a fee.
Thiago is set to quit Bayern Munich this summer, where he has won seven Bundesliga titles since joining from Barcelona.
The midfielder served up the perfect parting gift after helping Bayern conquer Europe with a 1-0 win in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon.
Thiago told the Bayern board that he wanted to leave the club during contract negotiations and his wish will be fulfilled.
That's permitted that his £25million valuation is met and Bayern have already lowered their original £31m asking price.

Rumours emerged in the Bayern dressing room earlier this year that Thiago wanted to join Liverpool for the final chapter of his career.
He was allegedly offering his house to the players as he looks to pack his bags and embark on a new challenge.
However, Liverpool are yet to submit an official bid as of yet.
That's left the door open for another club to swoop in and Manchester United are now in the running.

According to Norwegian journalist Fredrik A N Flitvedt, Solskjaer has already spoken to the player.
He tweeted: "Solskjaer has talked to Thiago in person. But so far the wage demand is too high. Too loud.
"Solskjaer is interested in signings such as will play for United for the "right reasons" and not because of money."
Flitvedt was the first to report earlier this week that United had registered an interest in Thiago in addition to Donny van de Beek.
The Dutchman sealed a £40million switch to Old Trafford yesterday after quick negotiations with Ajax.

United hopes of landing Thiago have been boosted by Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who confirmed last week that there has been no contact from Liverpool over a deal.
He said: "We always read a lot about Liverpool, but they haven't contacted us yet.
"Yesterday we had the appointment with our employees and his whole family was there and they wandered around the square in great nostalgia (at the Allianz Arena), I would almost say.
"That looked a lot like goodbye, as if he had made up his mind."
United had the chance to sign Thiago in 2013 but David Moyes decided against the deal and Thiago ended up at Bayern with Pep Guardiola.
