Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp planning repeat transfer trick with £10m summer bid
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will have to cope with a limited transfer budget this summer.
Liverpool: Klopp needs to ‘refresh’ the squad says pundit
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly planning to once again raid a relegated Premier League club following the success of Andy Robertson. The Reds had initially been tipped to make a big-money signing in Timo Werner to further strengthen their attacking positions prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
But the club have been hit hard financially by the COVID-19 outbreak, meaning Klopp's transfer budget has taken a hit.
Werner is now an afterthought at Anfield with Chelsea swooping in to sign the talented striker.
The Reds will now have to prioritise transfers that are seen as necessary to Klopp's first team.
The one position where Klopp is short of back-up is at left back with James Milner often filling in when Andy Robertson is unfit or in need of a rest.

If Liverpool plan to challenge on more fronts next season, Klopp will want to give Robertson more rest with a more recognised left-back coming in.
Yasser Larouci was highly regarded by Liverpool's academy staff to make the step up to the first team, but the 19-year-old is reportedly seeking an exit from the club this summer.
But the Mirror claim Liverpool have already identified another young full-back to come in as back-up to Robertson.
It is claimed Liverpool are preparing a £10m bid to sign Lewis from recently relegated Norwich.

Despite Norwich finishing last in the table, Lewis was a standout performer for the Canaries.
The 22-year-old earned high praise for his mature performances at the back while offering a threat going forward.
Despite having limited funds available, Klopp is hoping £10m will be enough to entice Norwich into selling.
Robertson's success story having signed the summer after Hull were relegated from the Premier League isn't the only time Klopp has stolen talent from clubs going down.
Xherdan Shaqiri was signed on what was deemed a bargain deal from Stoke back in 2018 while Georginio Wijnaldum was plucked from Newcastle four years ago with the midfielder going on to play a huge role in Liverpool's recent success.
Lewis isn't the only option Liverpool are considering to come in as cover for Robertson though.
The report states Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly is under serious consideration due to his versatility in being able to play at centre-back.
With Dejan Lovren leaving to join Zenit St Petersburg, Klopp will also need more cover in the middle of defence.
Virgil van Dijk played every minute of every game in the league but both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez suffered from injury setbacks throughout the season which meant Lovren had to step up occasionally.
Klopp has tried Fabinho at centre-back but the Liverpool boss will want a more recognised fourth option in defence.
