Man Utd vs Chelsea: Lampard reacts to FA Cup semi-final win
Manchester United executive vice-chairman will have his work cut out in the transfer window as this evening's defeat to Chelsea highlights the three key areas which must be improved if they are to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.
United have shown signs of improvement since Bruno Fernandes arrived from Sporting Lisbon in January.
However, the Portuguese midfielder alone is not enough to launch a serious bid for the Premier League title.
The Red Devils' 18-match unbeaten run came to an end at Wembley this evening as they lost 3-0 to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Goalkeeper David De Gea was at fault for both of the first two goals as he was beaten by Olivier Giroud at his near post for the opener.
The worst was yet to come as the Spaniard spilled Mason Mount's tame 25-yard drive into his own net in the second half to give his team a massive mountain to climb.

This is not the only match in which De Gea has made a series of high-profile mistakes which cannot be tolerated.
Woodward must be looking at other alternatives as there are too many points and cup runs being wasted by the errors.
United do have a top goalkeeper on their books in Sheffield United loanee Dean Henderson.
But it is unclear if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer feels the 23-year-old is ready to handle the pressure of becoming United's No 1.
