Liverpool transfer target Thiago 'about to leave Bayern Munich for Man Utd'
Thiago Alcantara has been linked with a move to Liverpool since it was confirmed that he will leave Bayern Munich this summer.
Liverpool: Thiago Alcantara would ‘strengthen squad’ says pundit
Thiago Alcantara could be about to join Manchester United, according to surprise Spanish reports. The midfielder is set to leave the Allianz Arena this summer after crunch talks with the Bayern Munich board, who were keen to get him to stay.
Thiago has had a new deal on the table for a while and looked set to sign it back in May before changing his mind on his future.
Understandably, Bayern do not want to lose a player of his value on a free transfer 12 months down the line.
CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed that they intend to cash in on Thiago in the coming months but denied negotiations with Liverpool.
“We had serious negotiations with him and fulfilled all of his wishes. But it looks like he might want to do something new again at the end of his career," Rummenigge told Bild.

“We have never had any contact with Liverpool. If he wants to do that, we have to deal with it.
“We don’t want to lose a player for free next year. I say that very clearly.”
While there is still some suggestion Thiago wants to move to Anfield, Spanish outlet Sport (below) have randomly claimed that he could instead join bitter rivals Manchester United.
While speaking about Thiago's younger brother Rafinha, the report stated that the Bayern man is ‘about to leave Bayern Munich and sign for Manchester United.'
United have got history with Thiago too and came close to signing the player in 2013.

Shortly after Sir Alex Ferguson's departure from Old Trafford over seven years ago, Thiago decided he wanted to move to the Premier League with United his first-choice destination.
Yet David Moyes decided against the move and later signed Marouane Fellaini instead.
Before signing his contract with Bayern Munich, Thiago even called United again to discover whether their decision was final. He was told that he could go ahead and sign for Bayern.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer does want to add another midfielder to his ranks this summer.
The seven-time Bundesliga champion is available for just £31million this summer and wants to test himself in England before calling time on his career.
Liverpool are not expected to make a move although should they be unable to agree a contract extension with Gini Wijnaldum, their stance could chance.
