Timo Werner: Pundit discusses potential transfer options
Timo Werner would have snubbed a move to Chelsea and signed for Liverpool if Jurgen Klopp really wanted to splash the cash on him. That's according to Reds icon John Barnes, who believes Liverpool haven't missed out on the striker as they could have had him if they wanted him.
Chelsea stunned the footballing world this week as it emerged they had agreed terms with Werner.
The RB Leipzig striker had been followed by Liverpool throughout the season, and it seemed inevitable he would end up at Anfield.
He had spoken with Klopp multiple times ahead of the window to discuss a potential move, with the manager reportedly reassuring him that only financial issues would stand in his way.
But when it came down to it, Liverpool were unwilling to trigger his £53million release clause, opening the door to Chelsea.

"If he doesn’t feel its worth it, whether it is money or whatever reason, then we don’t get him.
"So, I think that had Liverpool wanted him, he would have gone to Liverpool rather than Chelsea.
"I’m not saying that he’s not a good player, but Jurgen Klopp has taken a decision that he didn’t want him that badly in terms of the money that they were going to spend and we trust him.
"We’re not going to feel that we’ve lost out to Chelsea, we would not have lost out to Chelsea had Jurgen Klopp wanted him badly enough."
