Liverpool: Nicol says he’s ‘shocked’ at players ‘cry baby’ reaction
West Ham will be happy if they only lose 2-0 to Liverpool on Monday, according to pundit Charlie Nicholas. The Reds host David Moyes’ side today as they look to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
West Ham are currently 18th in the table, and are a point behind 17th-placed Aston Villa.
And they have a tough fight against them if they want to remain in the top-flight, with Villa having the easier game this weekend.
Dean Smith’s side travel to fellow strugglers Southampton, whereas the Hammers have to travel to the league leaders, who have scored the second-most goals in the league this season.
Writing in his Sky Sports column, Nicholas explained why even a 2-0 defeat wouldn’t be a bad thing for West Ham, because it would mean their goal difference isn’t too badly damaged.

“Liverpool will have had a chance to recover from Tuesday's defeat in Madrid,” he wrote.
“We knew they would get it tough; they did not play well and had lots of the ball but it was a dogged team that got physical and defended well, and that agitated Liverpool.
“This happens and it is the Champions League after all.
