The Light Blues pocketed £500,000 in compensation from the Blues for Gilmour but that figure will likely be dwarfed by his eventual value.
Rangers have ostensibly made a conscious effort to push King on their media channels of late in a bid to try to make him feel more at home.
The 54-time champions of Scotland are seven points adrift of table-toppers Celtic but have one game in hand as they eye their first league title since 2011.
Attention was on the Scottish Cup fifth-round tie against Hamilton Academical on the weekend, though, which Rangers won 4-1.

Scott Arfield scored a brace while Joe Aribo and Alfredo Morelos also chipped in with strikes after which Gerrard said: “I think the scoreline maybe flattered us a little bit if you look at what happened in the first-half.
“I thought how we went about trying to create chances here was very good and very impressive.
“We put a lot of talent on the pitch so we expected that, though I was disappointed with us in the first half defensively in-terms of our organisation and our balance behind the ball which led to them getting a few chances and scoring against us.
“So that was the thing I had to address at half-time – I had to rattle a few cages at half-time and get them switched on and focused and in the right place defensively.
“Once we did that, we played some nice stuff and we went on to create a lot of chances and scored some really impressive goals.”
