What Man Utd squad think about Paul Pogba leaving after Bruno Fernandes transfer
Manchester United star Paul Pogba wants to leave the club, despite the Red Devils landing Bruno Fernandes during the January transfer window.
Man Utd: Fernandes signing will ‘enhance’ Pogba says Ferdinand
Manchester United players think it’s in Paul Pogba’s best interests is he leaves the club, according to reports. The Red Devils have recently signed Bruno Fernandes, who is capable of playing in the same position as the France international.
Manchester United star Pogba wanted to leave the club during the summer transfer window, with Real Madrid his preferred destination.
The France international had grown frustrated at his side’s failure to get anywhere near winning the Premier League title.
United ultimately kept Pogba, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer choosing to back the France international and make him a key part of his plans.
But the Manchester Evening News say the 26-year-old is still keen to leave the club.
And the report says United players think the summer would be the best chance to cut the 2018 World Cup winner loose.
Pogba remains popular at Old Trafford among the players.
KEY STORY: The role Ed Woodward played in agreeing Bruno Fernandes transfer to Man Utd
He is a bubbly, larger than life individual whose big smile has a positive impact on those around him.
But, while his personality can’t be faulted, the France international has never lived up to big expectations on the pitch.
United re-signed Pogba from Juventus back in the summer of 2016, paying £89million to secure his signature.
His second spell started well, with the midfielder propelling the club to EFL Cup and Europa League glory under Jose Mourinho.
But January 2018 appears to have been the turning point.
Pogba clashed with Mourinho on the touchline in a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham and was substituted shortly afterwards.

Mourinho would bench him regularly for the rest of the campaign and, although he impressed under Solskjaer at times last season, he’s never been the same since.
Fernandes’ arrival at United could see the club finally cash in on Pogba this coming summer.
Meanwhile, former Red Devils star Paul Ince recently hit out at Pogba, claiming the midfielder regretted his decision to return to the club four years ago.
“When Pogba plays and he plays well there’s no way Ole would drop him,” Ince told Paddy Power News.
“Really, he should be the talisman of that team.
“He should be enthused and excited by the fact that the team could be built around him and he could be the main man, but he doesn’t seem interested in that to me.
“He’s not bothered about being the captain of Manchester United. It doesn’t excite him to be the talisman of that team.
“It feels as though we all bought into the romance of him returning to United. But it’s never really happened for him, has it?
“It’s not gone the way either he or the club wanted it to go. I would say he regrets making the move, now. You can sense that he wishes he’d gone somewhere else, so just let him go.
“The Return of the Prodigal Son stuff never quite worked out – but people would have more respect for him if he just came out and said that it hasn’t played out how he wanted it to.”
