Tottenham: Jose Mourinho discusses transfer activity
Tottenham failed in a surprise late bid to sign the top scorer in the Chinese Super League Eran Zahavi. According to the Daily Telegraph, Spurs made a desperate attempt to solve their attacking crisis by bringing Zahavi in on loan from Guangzhou R&F.
The Israel international emerged as a shock target after talks over a potential deal with Shanghai Shenhua star Odion Ighalo fell through.
Reports suggest Ighalo turned down the north Londoners’ advances in favour of a loan move to Manchester United because he has been a Red Devils fan ever since he was a child.
But it has also been suggested that Tottenham were the ones who pulled the plug instead as they believed the loan fee and wages were too much.
Spurs manager Jose Mourinho is also said to be unconvinced of the former Watford star’s potential.

The 32-year-old has scored a grand total of 306 goals throughout his career on both club and international level.
He has netted a staggering 99 goals in 110 appearances for Guangzhou R&F, where he has been playing since 2016.
Mourinho made no attempt to hide his frustrations at Tottenham’s failure to sign a striker during he winter transfer window.
However, the Portuguese manager understands that it is difficult to complete major deals in January as clubs are not willing to let their best players go in the middle of the season.
