Vecino and Laxalt join Uruguay team for World Cup training
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is hoping to secure his first signing since taking over at Goodison Park and after having previously enquired about Matias Vecino’s availability with Inter Milan, the Toffees are now looking to secure a deal before transfer deadline day.
The 28-year-old is believed to be surplus to requirements at the Italian club, with Inter considering offloading the Uruguayan midfielder in order to free up wages to fund other deals.
According to European transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla, Everton’s first enquiry was rebuffed by Inter three weeks ago.
However, Pedulla insists “the Toffees are back” in for Vecino and are currently in discussions with Inter over a deal this month.
Everton aren't the only team interested in Vecino, who has scored two goals and provided one assist in 17 appearances for Inter this season.

Everton are currently 12th in the Premier League table and are level on 30 points with five other clubs.
Arsenal have the best goal difference of those clubs, with minus two, and sit 10th in the table, while Newcastle are on minus 12 and sit in 14th.
The Toffees squad could see an overhaul from the former Napoli, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich boss this summer, but a few additions before the window closes next week could make all the difference for Ancelotti.
However, when he was recently asked about the club’s plans before deadline day, he was quick to rebuff discussions about transfer speculation.
