Gedson Fernandes: Midfielder trains with Benfica squad
West Ham have reportedly suffered a setback in their pursuit of Gedson Fernandes, but David Moyes has a long list of alternatives and a number of targets he has his eye on. The Hammers spent big last summer on Sebastian Haller and Pablo Fornals but the board are expected to back Moyes in his first window in charge of West Ham.
Randolph is said to have failed his initial medical but he will undergo further tests later today.
Meanwhile, Moyes has also targeted right-back as an area he wants to strengthen in the January transfer market.
Ryan Fredericks has been ruled out of action until next month, meaning the club are short of options on the right side of defence.
Pablo Zabaleta filled in for Fredericks in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Gillingham in the FA Cup third round.
