Aston Villa: Dean Smith talks transfers after Wesley injury
Aston Villa are set to miss out on Darren Randolph after the Middlesbrough ace agreed to rejoin West Ham. The Villans were hoping to beat the Hammers to Randolph as Dean Smith looks to replace Tom Heaton. England international Heaton has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
The stopper - and Villa’s record signing Wesley - were both forced off during Villa’s 2-1 win at Burnley.
Unfortunately for Smith, his two stars will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, meaning Villa must land replacements before the transfer window shuts if they hope to stay in the Premier League.
And according to the Guardian, West Ham have agreed a deal to re-sign Randolph for around £4m.
Villa were hoping to beat the Hammers to the former Birmingham City man, however, Randolph wanted to head back to east London.

“It’s huge, absolutely huge. Not only are they hovering above the relegation zone, that is a huge blow to Aston Villa to lose an international goalkeeper at a time like this.
“It’s such a crucial part of the field that you need the experience, you need the backup there. Yes, you’ve got other people coming back from injury but they’re not fully fit yet.
“He’s got to go into the market, he’s got to be very, very clever with who he gets in and who’s available.
“He definitely needs somebody with experience, somebody with the know-how because we’ve seen what can happen at West Ham, it can be absolutely detrimental to your form and results.”
