How Man Utd could line up after Calvert-Lewin, Sancho, Maddison and Saul transfers
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been backed to move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jadon Sancho, James Maddison and Saul Niguez when the transfer window reopens in January.
Manchester United may have finally appeared to turn a corner under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - but that won’t stop him from bolstering his squad with the transfer window now open. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jadon Sancho, James Maddison and Saul Niguez are all admired by the Red Devils amid their fine form for Everton, Borussia Dortmund, Leicester and Atletico Madrid. Express Sport now looks at how United could line up with the players in their ranks.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
United wanted to sign Erling Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg but, ultimately, the teenager has chosen to seal a transfer to Borussia Dortmund instead.
And, now, they want Calvert-Lewin.
The Everton star has caught the eye of Solskjaer, with the United manager determined to bring in a target man.
The 22-year-old would fit the bill and, should he touch down at Old Trafford, would likely displace Anthony Martial from the side.
That would enable Marcus Rashford to stay on the left, where he’s been so devastating this season.
Jadon Sancho
If United had had their way, Sancho would have arrived back in the summer.
The Red Devils are huge admirers of the England international but their failure to finish in the top four prevented them from a sealing a transfer deal.
Despite that, however, United remain keen on landing the 19-year-old.
He’d certainly represent an upgrade on Daniel James, despite the Wales international’s fine form this season.
Sancho won’t come cheap, however, with Dortmund expected to demand a fee of over £100million to let him go.

James Maddison
United know that signing Maddison from Leicester will be difficult given how tricky the January transfer window can be.
But they could still test the waters by lodging a bid for the England international this month.
United want Maddison amid the struggles of Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard in the No 10 position this season.
And he could play in front of two midfielders, allowing him to create chances for the forwards at the club.
Saul Niguez
Regardless of whether or not United keep Paul Pogba, Solskjaer wants to land Saul Niguez.
The Atletico star has been on the club’s radar for a number of years, with interest dating back to Sir Alex Ferguson’s time in charge.
And, if he signs, United could field him alongside Pogba in the middle of the park.
That would then allow Maddison to play in front of the duo.
